My dog the stoner

Boyfriend and I spent another weekend at my parents place because I had to work there...again. We arrived on Friday and stayed until Sunday evening when we hurriedly departed due to Vince's (the dog) bizarre behaviour.

Boyfriend and I went out picking blueberries with my mother and brought Vince along for the outing. It was a lovely day, sunny but not too hot. Vince wandered about, ate some berries from the bush. All good.

We arrive back at my parents' house and my father yells, "Jeeeeeeezuz, what the Hell is wrong with that dog," in tones and inflects that only my father can manage. I lie, his mother can...and did. I rush to the veranda where Vince looked much like I did two weeks ago after ingesting numerous gin and tonics (bad night, lots of vomit). Naturally we assumed heat stroke and started dousing him with water and took his temperature...in the bum...poor baby. Temperature was normal ruling out heat stroke.

Long story short and $194.94 later, the emergency on-call vet ran blood tests and nothing came back out of the ordinary so we took him home to bed. He passed out, drank a tonne of water around 2:30 am and was fine the next day.

Now, for the rest of the story.

I was talking to mum tonight and suggested he was stoned, we giggled, I paused, I restated my statement. No really, I think he was on weed.

On the way to this blueberry patch we saw two four wheelers (ATVs for you city folk!!) driven by the local off duty RCMP (cops for you non-Canadian folk!!). One of the officers joked with us about picking "blueberries" code word for some contraband! Haha!! He then said that it wasn't far down the road we were on that he found and seized a gazillion kg of marijuana plants.

That being said, it could be possible my Vince is dope sniffing hound.

Makes a better story, eh??

I hope it wasn’t your dad’s patch that the Mounties found.
